MariKate & Collin
Chandelier Light on a Cold Houston Night
Marikate doesn't do rustic. But she walked into Silver Sycamore and saw a blank canvas, not barn walls. What followed was a winter wedding that felt lifted straight from a ballroom — elegant, sparkling, impossibly warm against the January chill.
Envisioning the Space
From the very first tour, Marikate could see it. The natural wood, the high ceilings, the chandelier waiting for flowers. She didn't need to change the room — she needed to finish it.
"I remember taking our first tour and just instantly envisioning everything I wanted coming together in this space."
Saloon Supper
The night before started in the Saloon — low ceilings, candlelight, close conversation. It was private enough to feel like family dinner, loud enough to feel like a celebration had already begun.
"I loved that we had our rehearsal dinner in the Saloon. It was really private and intimate."
Following Their Hearts
They married in Marikate's church. That mattered. The pews, the prayers, the traditions she grew up with — none of that was negotiable. Silver Sycamore would get the party. The church got the promises.
"We followed our hearts and got married in her church, but still had a wonderful reception with us."
One Big Room
The double doors opened and every voice they loved was already inside, already standing, already cheering. Months of planning collapsed into a single exhale. The flowers hung from the chandelier. The garland lined the banquet tables. It was real.
"Making our entrance into the reception and seeing everyone we love in one big room and all of the planning and beautiful details come to fruition — it took my breath away."
Hanging Flowers, Garland, Candlelight
This was not a rustic wedding dressed up. This was an elegant wedding that happened to live inside wooden walls. The hanging florals from the chandelier turned the ceiling into a garden. The garland along the banquet tables pulled everything down to earth.
"I absolutely loved the hanging flowers from the chandelier and garland on the banquet tables. It really gave our reception a personalized touch."
160 Guests, Still Intimate
A hundred and sixty people filled the banquet hall, and somehow it still felt small. That's the trick of the space — the wood absorbs the noise, the lighting pulls everyone closer, and the room never feels cavernous even when it's full.
"Although we had around 160 guests, it still felt quaint and romantic and dreamy."
Breakfast with Family
Most couples leave the venue at midnight. Marikate and Collin stayed for breakfast the next morning. The rehearsal dinner, the cocktail hour, the reception, the overnight stay, the final meal — they used every inch of Silver Sycamore.
"From the rehearsal dinner to breakfast with our families the following morning, we really utilized the entire Silver Sycamore experience."
Choose the Moment
The day moves fast. The flowers matter less than you think. The timeline matters less than you think. What stays is whether you were actually present for the people who showed up to love you.
"No matter what happens, choose to go with the flow of things, stay positive, and focus on the memories you're making. Your day will fly by, so focus on the fun and you can't go wrong."
