Mercedes & Guillermo

High School Sweethearts, Halloween Touches, and a Pergola by the Water

Mercedes and Guillermo have been together since high school. So when it came time to plan the wedding, they already knew what they wanted: outdoor, green, with their own twist. The Halloween details weren't costumes or cobwebs. Skulls tucked into lush greenery. Candlelight behind them.

The Lakeside Pergola

Most couples choose The White Chapel. Mercedes wanted the Lakeside Pergola. Open air, water behind them, greenery draping every surface. She'd imagined the water behind her and the greenery framing the moment. The ceremony photos prove she was right. The pergola framed them like it was built for that specific afternoon.

The Groom

Guillermo spent the rehearsal telling everyone he wasn't going to cry. Tough guy. Unbothered. Then Mercedes appeared at the end of the aisle and that lasted about three seconds. He'll tell you it was allergies. The photos tell a different story.

A Family Thing

This wasn't the first wedding at Silver Sycamore for this family. Guillermo's parents were married here too. Two generations, same property, same six acres. When Mercedes talks about choosing the venue, she mentions that detail first. Two generations, same six acres.

The Reception

The greenery carried from the ceremony into Sycamoreville. Tables surrounded by living greenery, vines climbing the storefronts, the whole town looking like a garden with buildings in it. And then the skulls. Subtle. Tucked between the flowers and the candles. A detail that made every table unmistakably theirs.
